How Do You Properly Fit the Voyager Padded Fleece Dog Harness on Your Dog?
To properly fit the Voyager Padded Fleece Dog Harness on your dog, you should follow several key steps:
- Measure Your Dog: Take accurate measurements of your dog’s chest and neck to ensure you select the correct harness size.
- Adjust Straps: Once the harness is on your dog, adjust the straps for a snug but comfortable fit.
- Check for Comfort: Ensure that the harness does not cause any chafing or restrict movement, allowing your dog to walk freely.
- Secure the Fasteners: Make sure all buckles and clips are securely fastened to prevent the harness from slipping off during use.
- Test the Fit: After securing the harness, conduct a quick test by pulling gently on the harness to ensure it fits properly and does not come loose.
Measuring your dog accurately is crucial because each dog’s body shape and size vary, and the Voyager Padded Fleece Dog Harness is designed to fit snugly based on these measurements. Use a soft measuring tape around the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs, and around the neck to find the correct size.
Adjusting the straps is an essential step to ensure the harness fits securely. The Voyager harness typically has adjustable straps that allow you to customize the fit, ensuring that it is tight enough to stay on but loose enough to provide comfort without pinching your dog’s skin.
Checking for comfort is vital as an ill-fitting harness can lead to discomfort or injury. Look for signs of chafing or excessive tightness; there should be enough room to fit two fingers comfortably between the harness and your dog’s body.
Securing the fasteners is important for safety. Make sure all clips and buckles are firmly in place before taking your dog out, as a loose harness can slip off or cause your dog to escape unexpectedly.
Finally, testing the fit helps ensure the harness is working as intended. Gently tug on the harness to see if it holds securely without slipping, and observe your dog’s movement to ensure they can walk, run, and play comfortably while wearing it.

Why Should You Choose a Voyager Padded Fleece Dog Harness Over a Traditional Collar?
You should choose a Voyager Padded Fleece Dog Harness over a traditional collar because it provides enhanced comfort and security for your pet, reducing the risk of injury and improving control during walks.
According to a study published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, traditional collars can increase the risk of neck injuries, especially in small or active breeds, as pulling on a leash can put significant pressure on the trachea and cervical spine. Conversely, harnesses distribute this force more evenly across the dog’s body, reducing strain on any single part. The Voyager Padded Fleece Dog Harness is particularly beneficial as it includes padding that adds an extra layer of comfort, making it less likely for the dog to experience chafing or discomfort.
The underlying mechanism involves the way harnesses are designed to fit around the dog’s torso rather than the neck. When a dog pulls on a leash with a collar, the pressure is concentrated on the neck, which can lead to pain or injury. In contrast, a well-fitted harness, like the Voyager model, can help manage pulling by redirecting the force across the chest and back, allowing for better control of the dog without causing harm. Additionally, the padded fleece lining offers a snug fit that can prevent slipping, giving pet owners more confidence in their ability to keep their dogs secure and comfortable during walks.
